Dr. Mahya Farnia Cruz


Dr. Mahya is an Orthodontist and partner of Sonrsias Orthodontics and Periodontics.  She received her undergraduate degree in her hometown of Irvine, at the prestigious University of California, Irvine. She attended dental school in Nevada and graduated top of her class. Her dream was finally fulfilled when she attended University of Indiana for her orthodontic residency where she received specialty training to create smiles that would last forever.
She also met the love of her life during the residency and married Dr. Enrique Cruz. Together they were the best team in the school and still continue to work together and make every patient feel like part of their family.  Dr. Mahya has received training in the newest technological advancements in orthodontics, including Invisalign®, Invisalign Teen, Lingual braces, 3-D imaging, accelerated orthodontics and much more. She is an active member in many leading dental and orthodontic organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA), and Capital Area Dental Society (CADS).
When not in the office, Dr. Mahya enjoys giving back to her community through volunteer work with young children. She also enjoys running, cooking, movies, basketball, and soccer. Dr. Mahya enjoys supporting the businesses and activities of her patients and families.



Dr. Enrique Cruz

Periodontist / Orthodontist

Dr. Cruz graduated from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico city where he received his DDS, followed by training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.

Coming from a dental family of 12 dentists and his passion for dentistry Dr. Cruz decided to increase his qualifications by obtaining a dual specialty training for 6 years at Indiana University where he received certificates in Periodontics, Orthodontics, a Masters Degree in Dentistry and two minors in Oral Pathology and Life Sciences.

In 2007, he obtained his certification in a technique that involves Periodontally accelerated osteogenics orthodontics called Wilckodontics.   Later on in 2009, this training made him the recipient of the Case of the Year awarded by the Indiana Dental Association.

Dr Cruz has been involved with dental research, presented nationally and internationally and has been published in the AJODO.

As member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontlogy and the American Association of Orthodontist, Dr Cruz is involved continuously with current technologies and techniques.
