Early Orthodontic Treatment

A beautiful smile and good dental health make a difference in your child’s confidence. Although braces for teens are more common, braces for young children can increase the way for a better final outcome as your child continues to grow and prevent more complicated treatment later.

Good dental health begins early with Sonrisas Orthodontics and Periodontics and our Cedar Park, Round Rock, Austin TX braces treatment options. The American Dental Association recommends that a child first visit the family dentist at an early age. In some cases it is advisable to make room for the permanent teeth before all the adult teeth are erupted.

Another step recommended by the American Association of Orthodontics is for your child’s first visit to the orthodontist to take place by age 7. Treatment may not start at this time, but it is important to assure that your child receives the best care.

Braces For Kids

Braces for kids are not unusual and can have great psychosocial benefits if the child’s teeth are crowded and he / she is experiencing teasing or bullying.  Your child may need an orthodontic exam if any of the following warning signs are present:

  • Finger sucking, thumb sucking, other oral habits
  • Grinding of teeth
  • Under bite
  • Difficulty in chewing or biting

Early examination can make a big difference in your child’s treatment. Call 512-593-7970 or contact us for your complimentary initial exam.

Orthodontic Treatment For Adults

At Sonrisas Dental Center we are proud to offer advanced orthodontic treatment options to patients of all ages.

Our patients can choose from a wide range of solutions, and we specialize in ground-breaking care to provide comfortable wear, and accelerated treatment times.

For achieving your best smile possible, scheduling free consultation with our doctors is the first step to finding the right solution for you.

Metal Braces

These brackets are made of stainless steel and are very small and comfortable. This is the most traditional form of braces and all ages of our patients can wear them.

The most common treatment, metal braces braces are typically the least expensive.  For fun, patients can choose different color bands to be used.

Dr. Cruz and Dr. Farnia is able to move the teeth in small increments at a time by adjusting and tightening the braces.  With traditional braces, the maintenance is fairly easy which is why they are a good choice for teens and young adults.

Clear Braces

Ceramic braces (also referred to as “ clear braces” ) offer an aesthetic alternative to the orthodontic patient. Ceramic dental braces are just like traditional metal braces with the exception that the brackets are clear or tooth-colors. They are nearly invisible, though they are worn just as traditional braces are. This is an alternative to metal braces for more aesthetic treatment.

If you’re an adult and need braces, ceramic braces are an excellent option. Cosmetically, most adults prefer not to have noticeable, metal brackets. With ceramic braces, you can enjoy all the benefits of effective teeth straightening and not feel self-conscious about having metal brackets and wires.  It is a great option for those you play wind instruments.

Lingual Braces

Our Cedar Park braces specialize in providing the best treatment for our patients. One of the more innovative options is hidden braces. Hidden braces are invisible and customized and are as unique as who wear them.

The process for lingual braces involves taking an impression of the teeth, which is then sent to a dental laboratory and used to create customized brackets. The process takes about six weeks and, once complete, allows the orthodontist to use a specific process to cement the braces onto the back surfaces of your teeth.

These braces are great for adult professionals, and musicians who play wind instruments.  Please stop by our office to learn more about this amazing service at our Cedar Park Orthodontics and braces.

About Periodontal Plastic Surgery

Like the cosmetic plastic surgery which is an option to enhance facial esthetics, your periodontal gums are part of the smile esthetics. They enhance your smile and provide beautiful contouring to the teeth. However, as the periodontal disease progress and there is a loss of gum tissues, the teeth become less esthetic.

There are options to enhance the gingival tissue health and periodontal health through procedures called periodontal plastic surgery. These procedures include but not limited to connective tissue graft, laser gingivectomy, crown lengthening, and alloderm.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a procedure available at Sonrisas Orthodontics and Periodontics. Dental implants are the ideal solution to replacing one or more missing teeth. Here at Sonrisas Orthodontics and Periodontics, we can help you get that confident smile back once again.

Dr. Cruz and Dr. Farnia can offer you a permanent and aesthetic tooth replacement that will make you feel like you have your own tooth back again.

Tissue Graft

There are options to enhance the gingival tissue health and periodontal health through procedures called periodontal plastic surgery. These procedures include but not limited to connective tissue graft, laser gingivectomy, crown lengthening, and alloderm.

If you see a few of your teeth have started to look longer or you frequently experience sensitivity to hot and cold, your gums could be receding, and a portion of your tooth’s root is exposed. Gum recession occurs gradually, and it may sneak up on you. Gum grafting treatment for receding gums can help prevent any further loss of gum tissue.

Tooth extraction, also known as tooth removal, is a procedure available at our dental clinic in Sonrisas Dental Center Orthodontics and Periodontics. When a tooth has suffered significant damage, or is at risk of damaging other teeth or your gums, and can’t be fixed with restorative treatment, it may need to be extracted.

Before a tooth is removed, Dr. Cruz and Dr. Farina will thoroughly review your medical and dental history and take the appropriate X-rays.  X-rays reveal the length, shape, and position of the tooth and surrounding bone. From this information, your dentist can estimate the degree of difficulty of the procedure and decide whether to refer you to a specialist called an oral surgeon.
